Sarajane "Sally" Mills Berry

Sarajane "Sally" Mills Berry, age 80, of Cowansville, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 6:15 p.m. at her residence

Born December 29, 1924 in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Carl and Sara Jane Cousley Vogtsberger.

Mrs. Berry owned and operated a mobile home park, and for more than 40 years, she also owned and operated restaurants and lounges.

She was the first female crossing guard in Allegheny County and the first female manager of Rose Drive-In Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also was a poodle breeder and a bus driver for the South Butler School District.

Mrs. Berry was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Butler, Pennsylvania. She was an active den mother for the Boy Scouts for years, was the first female den mother for Webelos and received an Eagle Scout pin.

She enjoyed crafts, traveling/vacationing, decorating, cooking, rug making and her home in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mrs. Berry is survived by her husband, Robert W. Berry, Sr.; her five sons, Stan, Ed and Pat Mills, all of Butler, Pennsylvania, Jock Mills of Wattersonville, Pennsylvania and Robert W. Fay-Berry of Dubuque, Iowa; a daughter, Sarajane Mills Elder of Butler, Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by a sister, Marie Pane of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania; two half-brothers and two half-sisters, William, Richard and Carla Vogtsberger and Virginia Rupert, all of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews.

An infant son, a half-brother, Carl Vogtsberger and one grandson, Christopher, preceded Mrs. Berry in death.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Timothy Manwell, her church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Royal Cemetery, Allegheny County.
