John Henry Betts, 82, of
Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 15,
2011 at 12:30 p.m. at his residence.
He was born October 9, 1929
in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania to the late Ferdinand
Betts and Marie Elizabeth Millhimes Betts.
Mr. Betts served as a
Seaman in the United States Navy at the close of
World War II and during the Korean War in various
ports of call. He worked as a Sales Engineer at
Landis Machine / Teledyne until his retirement in
1991. Mr. Betts was a 32nd Degree Free Mason. He
enjoyed boating, water skiing and coin collecting.
Mr. Betts is survived by
his wife Evelyn Elizabeth Betts, whom he married on
June 20, 1953; two sons, John Betts and his wife,
Grace of Mechanicsburg, PA and Kenneth Betts and his
wife, Mary of Butler, PA; one daughter, Sharon
Kleeman and her husband, Doug of Butler, PA; five
grandchildren, Jennifer, John-Robb, Julia, Jackie,
Sonya; three step grandchildren, Nicole, Steve and
Becky; nine great-grandchildren &
step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ferdinand
Betts; seven nieces; and four nephews.
Friends will be received
Friday, November 18, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to
8 p.m.
at the Thompson - Miller Funeral
Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
A Memorial Service is being
planned for a later date.
Interment will be in the Green
Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
