"Doc" Brandon, age 88 formerly of Meadowood in Butler Township died
Friday, December 3, 2004 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
Born April 19, 1916 in Trafford,
Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Donald C. and Frances M. (Taubler)
Brandon.
He was a chiropractor in Butler for 36
years after graduating from Lincoln Chiropractic College in
Indianapolis, Ind., in 1950. He also retired in 1988 as an active
stockholder and secretary of the board for radio stations in Indiana
and Pennsylvania, including WBUT, WLER FM and WISR in Butler.
After graduating from Butler High
School in 1935, he worked as a machinist at Spang & Co., for nearly 10
years. Before entering college, he and his wife, Jean Shanor Brandon,
ran a grocery store on Wood Street and Sixth Avenue in Butler.
Dr. Brandon was a 40-year member of the
Butler Kiwanis Club and was a past president of the Butler County
Chiropractic Society. He wrote and hosted health talks on local radio
stations in the early 1960s.
A sports enthusiast, he played baseball
and basketball in high school, and bowled and golfed through his
retirement. He bowled for years in the Elks League.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy
Jean Rogerson and her husband, Peter, of Butler; two sons, Ronald W.
Brandon and his wife, Joyce, and Robert C. Brandon and his wife,
Charlotte, all from Butler; five grandchildren, Jenny Lynn Rogerson
and Gregory Allen Rogerson, both of Butler, and Deanna Lynn Herrle,
Carla Ann Brandon and Amie Joy Brandon, all of Pittsburgh; and three
great-granddaughters, Emma, Ellie and Savannah, the children of James
and Deanna Herrle; a sister, Mrs. Martha West and her husband, Joseph,
of Butler; five nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife,
Elva Jean Brandon, who he married May 22, 1940, and who died October
16, 1995; a brother, Emory, and a sister, Ruth.
BRANDON - Friends of W. Frank Brandon,
who died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Monday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St.,
Butler. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The
Rev. James Dollhopf, pastor of First English Lutheran Church, will
officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
