Mary Jane Bryant

Mary Jane Bryant, 87, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at her residence.

She was born June 25, 1924 in Butler, Pennsylvania, to the late James Howe Lyon, Sr and Celia Edna Texter Lyon.

Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and in her earlier years she work for Bell Telephone in Butler, PA. She graduated from Butler High School in 1942. Mrs. Bryant was a member of Meridian United Presbyterian Church,the Presbyterian Women, quilters and sewing group of Meridian and Grace Lutheran Church, the garden club, the Butler High School girls class of 1942 and the widows of Summit Church. She loved music, sewing, all people, children and her Lord.

Mrs. Bryant is survived by one son, Richard J. Bryant and his wife Andrea of New Castle, PA; four daughters,Sally Jane Carrier and husband Fred of Salem, OH, Susan A. Galbreath of Newark, DE, Patricia A. Lazare and her husband, Michael of Boise, ID. and Margaret C. Gaines and her husband Robert of Skiatook, OK; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, two brothers, James H. Lyon, Jr. and his wife Emogene of Butler, PA, and Samuel Lyon and his wife, Shirley of Butler, PA; two sisters, Alene Campbell of Chicora, PA. and Patricia Burkett of Mesa, AZ; and also by many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, John William Bryant, Jr. whom she married on March 20, 1943 and passed away on May 15, 1988.

Friends will be received Friday, December 16, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Avenue Butler, PA, with Reverend Stephen M. Franklin, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
