Ellsworth Harrison Buchanan,
Jr. and his wife Dolores Maria Buchanan went home to be
with the Lord September 7, 2011.
Dolores was born June 26, 1925
in Taretan, Michoacan, Mexico. She was the daughter of
the late Jose Lopez and Esther Espinosa Lopez. She had
one sister, Salud Lopez E, and one brother, Jesus Lopez,
both who lived out their lives in Mexico. Dolores was a
homemaker and she was proud to become a United States
Citizen in July of 1977. Dolores loved to share her
heritage by making beautiful crocheted and hand crafted
beaded items and giving them as gifts.
Ellsworth (Jr.) was born July
7, 1928 in Butler. He was the eldest son of the late
Ellsworth and Bessie Kuhn Buchanan. Ellsworth (Jr.)
served in the Navy and later retired from Butler
Memorial Hospital.
Jr. had a contagious smile and
was loved by everyone who knew him. He loved to read and
could always be found at the nearest yard sale. His
favorite pastime; however, was to roller skate. To many,
he will be remembered as the man who taught them how to
skate.
Jr. and Dolores were married
March 8, 1961. They lived a simple life, sharing a
mutual passion for gardening and they also enjoyed
traveling to Mexico. Both Jr. and Dolores were active in
their church and loved to help anyone who had a need.
Jr.'s siblings, George Buchanan
of Butler, Hazel Robson of Karns City and Dorothy Mincer
of East Butler survive them. Also surviving are numerous
nieces and nephews, both in the United States and
Mexico.
Jr. and Dolores were preceded
in death by a sister-in-law, Betty Buchanan; two
brother-in-laws, Charlie Robson and Howard Mincer; and
also by numerous family members both in the United
States and Mexico.
The late Ellsworth Harrison
Buchanan (Jr.) and his wife Dolores Maria (Lopez)
Buchanan will be honored and remembered at a Memorial
Service on October 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at East Butler
Presbyterian Church. Family and friends of Jr. and
Dolores will be received after the service for a time of
fellowship and refreshments.
Arrangements are being handled by the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street,
