Luchion M. "Joe" Cemate, age 86, of
Villa Drive, Butler, Pennsylania, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at
2:31 a.m. in the United Community Hospital, Grove City,
Pennsylvania. Born October 24,
1919 in Ganister, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John and Louise
Ferrante Cemate.
He was a graduate of Williamsburg
High School in Blair County, where he played football.
Mr. Cemate was a retired electrician
and had worked for US Steel at its Michigan Limestone Plant in
Boyers and at its National Tube plant in Ellwood City for a total of
37 years. He then worked at National Underground Storage in Boyers
for 10 years.
He attended the Community Alliance
Church.
He was an avid baseball player and
played shortstop for the Boyers and Hilliards baseball teams in the
Butler County Baseball League. He enjoyed his grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Cemate is survived by his wife,
Edna M. Turk Cemate, whom he married August 3, 1946; a daughter,
Mrs. Richard (Carol E.) Walker of Fenelton, Pennsylvania; three
grandchildren, Rodrichard Walker and his wife, Diane, Shelly Miller
and her husband, Daniel, and Scott Walter and his wife, Angel; and
three great grandchildren, Colin, Reese and Gavin. He is also
survived by three brothers, Otto Cemate of Livonia, Michigan, Sam
Cemate and his wife, Lorraine, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Robert
Cemate and his wife, Joan, of Canton, Massachusetts; two sisters,
Mrs. Philip (Jennie) Buccini of Grove City, Pennsylvania and Mrs.
Rose Middendorf of Lincoln Park, Michigan and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Three brothers, Jack Cemate, Dominick
Cemate and an infant, preceded Mr. Cemate in death.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson
- Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 11:00
a.m. with Reverend J. David Panther, pastor of First United
Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Butler
County Memorial Park.
