William Joseph "Bill"
Chernosky, Sr., 87, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed
away on September 16, 2019 at his residence.
He was born June 2, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
to the late John Chernosky and the late Margaret (Griffen)
William worked at the United States Post Office in
Pittsburgh retiring June 1987 after 30 years of
service. He was a veteran of the United States Army
as a Private 2nd class serving in Korean War in
Okinawa. William was a life member of Mt. Oliver
Volunteer Hook and Ladder Company. He was a member
of St. Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, William (Donna)
Chernosky, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA, and Edward (Stacy)
Chernosky of Chatham, NJ; two daughters, Ruth Ann
(Keith) Ondrik of Pittsburgh, PA, and Lynda (James)
Reich of Butler, PA; eight grandchildren, William
Chernosky III, Jason Gross, James Reich, Matthew
Reich, Nicolas Reich, Luke Reich, Brynn Chernosky,
Rory Chernosky; five great grandchildren,
Harley,Justin, William IV, Nicolas, Jr, and Indigo;
one brother John (Jack) Chernosky of Pittsburgh, PA;
one sister, Catherine Besterman of Pittsburgh, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his wife, Joan M (Bierman) Chernosky whom he
married on November 23, 1955 and who passed away on
February 2, 2005; one brother, and one sister.
Friends will be received at Thompson - Miller
Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler,
PA. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm
and Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday,
September 23, 2019, 10:00 am at the St. Paul
Catholic Church with Father John Baver, officiating.
Full military honors will accorded by American
Legion Post #778, Lyndora; VFW Post #249 and
American Legion #117, Butler.
Private burial will take place in the St. John
