Howard John Clark

December 14, 1924 - September 5, 2005
 

Howard John Clark, age 80 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, September 5, 2005 at U.P.M.C. Passavant hospital after a short illness.

Born December 14, 1924 he was the son of the late Alderman John D. Clark and the late Bertha A. (Cross) Clark.

Mr. Clark graduated from Butler High school in 1942 and Washington and Jefferson College in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He served in the U. S. Army 1950-1952 with the Second Historical Detachment. Mr. Clark coached several winning independent basketball teams, played softball and enjoyed golf. He also was a basketball official. He served as a physical director at various YMCA's from 1954-1972. He retired from Butler County Community College in 1992 after 17 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he and his wife were greeters. He was a member of Hiland Golf Course and AARP.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Carol E. (Seely) Clark whom he married on June 12, 1954; one son, Thomas A. Clark, a daughter-in-law, Donna Clark, two grand-daughters, Danielle and Kaitlyn and a grandson, Andy Clark of Hatboro, Pennsylvania; three nieces, one great-niece, one great nephew, and a number of cousins.

There will be no public viewing. Funeral service will be private. Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park

Memorial donations in lieu of flower's may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home.
