John W. Ellis

August 3, 1926 - September 11, 2003

 John W. Ellis, 77 of Butler, died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born August 3, 1926 in Bakers Summit, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Daniel Ellis and Blanche Mabel Lydic.

He was a retired Manager for Agway in Brookville. He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during WW II. He was a past Grandmaster of the Grange in Roseville, Pennsylvania.

Surviving are his wife, Lois B. Book Ellis, whom he married July 3, 1948, three sisters, Luella Ellis of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, Hattie Mobley of Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Dorothy Worthing of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, three brothers, Eber Ellis of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, James Ellis of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, Lawrence Ellis of Salemville, Pennsylvania, and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, from Friday, September 12, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend James Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
