Christena E. Filges, age 89, formerly of
Center Drive, Chicora, Pennsylvania, currently a resident of Chicora
Medical Center, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 7:20
p.m. in the Chicora Medical Center.
Born in Great Belt on September 19,
1916, she was the daughter of the late Henry Strobel and Amelia
Wagner Strobel.
Mrs. Filges was a homemaker and a
member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed
gardening and her pets. At the medical center she had many friends
and enjoyed the activities there, especially playing cards.
She is survived by her husband
Everett Filges; they were married on December 25, 1938, by two
daughters, Joyce Reeves and her husband Donald of Chicora,
Pennsylvania, Lois Bell and her friend Joe McCrea of Fenelton,
Pennsylvania, two sons, Dennis Filges and his friend Marge Watterson
of Chicora, Pennsylvania, David Filges and his wife Evon of New
Kent, Virginia, twelve grandchildren, Kevin Reeves, Karen Fencil,
Kelli Rensel, Mark Reeves, Gretchen St. Clair, Erin Dumbaugh, Eric
Dumbaugh, Brian Filges, Christine Filges, Ashley Filges, Adam Filges,
and Alex Filges, twelve great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs.
Laverna Check of Great Belt, two sister-in-laws, Gertrude Barnhart
of Concordia, Cabot, Pennsylvania, Mathenia Strobel of Saxonburg,
Pennsylvania, and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son,
Paul Filges, one daughter Linda Filges, four brothers and two
sisters.
Friends and family of Christena
Filges will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc.,
124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Thursday,
December 8, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will
be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m
with the Reverend Robert W. Strobel officiating. Interment will
follow in the South Cemetery, Butler, Pennsylvania. |
