Charles W. George

July 10, 1925 - August 20, 2004
 

Charles W. George, 79 of Dogwood Court, Saxonburg, died Friday, August 20, 2004 at 3:13 p.m. in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

Born July 10, 1925 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Roy Glenn George and Mary Matilda Smail.

Mr. George retired with 36 years of service from Armco working in the melt shop and also as a water clarifier. Following his retirement he drove school bus for the Butler Area School District. He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and collecting model trains. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.

Mr. George is survived by his wife, Ellen M. (Dickey) George, whom he married on February 2, 1951, by two sons, Dana George of Butler, Pennsylvania, Galen George of Williamstown, West Virginia, two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. George was preceded in death by three sisters.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Sunday, August 22, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Monday, August 23, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Oden Warman officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
