Paul William Goughler, Jr., 72 , of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 3, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born February 26, 1941 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Paul W. Goughler, Sr. and Earla Blanche (Heater) Goughler.

Mr. Goughler was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving with the U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One in Davisville, RI. He also served in Spain, Portugal, New Zealand and Antarctica. Mr. Goughler worked as a custodian, grounds maintenance, and in the food service department at the Butler Area School District until his retirement. He was an avid bowler and golfer and had previously belonged to the Men's Business Bowling League, the Trees and Flowers Bowling League and various other leagues for golf and horseshoes. In the mid 1980s he coached girls softball.

Mr. Goughler is survived by his wife, Beatrice Doris (Ellis) Goughler, whom he married June 20, 1964; two daughters, Bonnie Morrow and her companion Dave Duncan, Jr. of Butler, PA and Bobbi Ruby and her husband, Ed of York, SC; five grandchildren, Sarah Morrow of Pineville, NC, Randy Morrow, Jr. of Butler, PA, David Duncan of Butler, PA and Amber & Amanda Ruby of York, SC; and one great-grandchild, Kenleigh Brown of Pineville, NC.

There will be no public visitation.

Officers and members of the American Legion Post #778 of Lyndora and the VFW Post #249 will conduct graveside military honors on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at North Butler Cemetery, 106 Mottern Road, Chicora, PA 16025.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donation are suggested to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
