James A. Green, Sr.

November 2, 1942 ~ May 8, 2016

 

James A. Green, Sr., 73, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 8, 2016 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born November 2, 1942 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late James Alexander Green and the late Ethel Frances Bowser.

James joined the United States Navy in 1960 and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer in 1979. He worked for F.B. Leopold in Zeilenople as a plant manager from 1979 to 2007. James was an avid Steelers Fan, and a NASCAR Fan. He enjoyed car cruises and working on classic cars and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Joan (Poprovsky) Green whom he married on February 16, 1963; one daughter, Tracy Heming and her husband Charles of Nanty Glo, PA; two sons, James Green, Jr. and his wife Amy of Butler, PA, and Robert Green and his wife Ashley of Butler, PA; four grandchildren, Brittany Rakarich, Haley Green, Logan Green, and Zoe Green; four sisters, Margie Vangorder and her husband Jack of Butler, PA, Merna Patton and her husband John of Butler, PA, Joyce Shaw and her husband David of Sterling Heights, MI, and Carol Ann Bowen and her husband Ron of Hay Market, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Norma Jean Huber.

According to his wishes there will be no public visitation.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street,with Pa Dr. Reverend Dennis L. Krajacic of Community Alliance Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
