Evelyn M. Grooms Obituary (1927 - 2019)

Evelyn M. Grooms, 91, of Saxonburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries. She was born September 3, 1927 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Newton English and the late Wilda Strickenburg English. Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Butler. She was a member of Berean Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Fellowship. Evelyn enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and was an avid reader. She is survived by two sons, John (Joyce) Grooms of Critz, VA, and Dave (Michele) Grooms of Sarver, PA; two daughters, Darlene Grooms of Sarver, PA, and Joanne (Mark) Hughes of Butler, PA; seven grandchildren, Becky Maupin, Melanie Cumberland, Melissa Druschel, Ashley Grooms, Lauren Hughes,Chris Grooms,and Ryan Hughes; three great grandchildren, Anna Beth Cumberland, Caleb Maupin and Samuel Maupin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Grooms, one sister, Ethel Baker, three brothers, George English, Raymond English, and Charles English. Friends will be received at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. on Monday, May 27, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler, PA with Pastor David Maitland, of First Baptist Church officiating. Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at First Baptist Church, 221 W.New Castle St., Butler, PA 16001.
