Norman S.
Grooms, 74 of Saxonburg, died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at 7:35 p.m. in
Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born February 8, 1930 in Springdale, Pennsylvania, he was the son of
Samuel Grooms and Martha Sipes.
Mr. Grooms was employed at Agway in Butler and Saxonburg. He was a
member of the First Baptist Church of Butler. He was a trustee of his
church and he was a member of the Berean Sunday School class. Mr.
Grooms enjoyed camping, gardening and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn M. English Grooms who he married
December 24, 1953, two sons, John N. Grooms of Stuart, Virginia and
David A. Grooms of Butler, two daughters, Darlene Grooms and Mrs. Mark
(Joanne) Hughes both of Butler, seven grandchildren, two brothers,
Thomas Grooms of Dayton, Pennsylvania and Lester Grooms of Saxonburg,
Pennsylvania, two sisters, Lillie Mae Grooms of Saxonburg,
Pennsylvania and Mrs. Lucille Jordon of Cabot, Pennsylvania and a
number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc.,
124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, Saturday August 7, 2004
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc.,
Sunday August 8, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend David Maitland of
First Baptist Church of Butler officiating. Interment will follow in
Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Building Fund of the First
Baptist Church of Butler, 221 West New Castle Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania 16001.
