Helen E. Herrit, 88,
formerly of Saxonburg Road, Butler,
Pennsylvania, passed away March 14, 2013 at 1:25
p.m. at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation
Born April 8, 1924 in
Surveyor, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of
the late Howard Horton and Matilda Brumberg
Mrs. Herrit was a
homemaker. She was a long-time member of St.
Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was
active in various organizations of the church.
She was a past president of the Women of the
Church. Mrs. Herrit enjoyed reading, painting,
drawing, and had taught decoupage at BC3. She
also enjoyed playing bridge.
Mrs. Herrit is survived
by one son, Dennis Herrit and his wife Heidi of
Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Diana Lynn
Schaney and her husband Ray of Erie,
Pennsylvania and Suellen Lee Montag of Girard,
Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; three nieces; and her
sister-in-law, Patricia Herrit of Findlay, Ohio.
In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Herrit was preceded in death by
her husband, Wayne F. Herrit, whom she married
on July 11, 1945, and who passed away April 4,
Friends will be
received Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral
Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Funeral Services will
be held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at
the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201
W. Jefferson Street, Butler, PA 16001, with
Reverend Dr. Alden Towberman.
Interment will follow
in Gruenwald Cemetery
