William R. Hill

March 23, 1925 - October 26, 2005
 

William R. Hill, age 80 of Woodbury Dr., Butler, PA, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at 5:55 a.m. at his residence. 

Born March 23, 1925 in Coal Center, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Roy McClees Hill and the late Isabel Riley. 

Mr. Hill was a manager for Prudential for 30 years.  He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church.  He sang in the church's choir and active with Meals on Wheels. Mr. Hill was an avid golfer, and was a member of the Postmasters Golf League; he also bowled at Family Lanes. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #461, Monongahela Valley, York Rite Lodges, Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Butler Caravan #14, Butler Luncheon Club. Mr. Hill was in the U.S. Army serving in the European Theater where he received the Purple Heart. 

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Betty Wallow Hill whom he married on June 14, 1947, three sons, David R. Hill and his fiancé Rose Dulaney of Mercer, Pennsylvania, John W. Hill of Arlington, Virginia, Samuel G. and his wife Karen Hill of Clarksville, Tennessee; one daughter, Barbara Sloan of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Brian, Natalie, Jeremiah, Enoch, Tiffany, Michelle, Mark, Ryan and Kelsey, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Hill. 

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, October 28, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Oden R. Warman of Christ Community United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
