Joan L. Hillwig Obituary (1928 - 2023)

Joan L. Hillwig, 94, of Cabot, PA formerly of Chicora, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, PA. She was born May 19, 1928 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Nancy Summerville. Joan was a homemaker. She was a member of the Butler First United Methodist Church, a member of the Asbury Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, and an Elementary Sunday School teacher. Joan was a former member of Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Fecich of Saxonburg, PA; two sons, Walter (Karen) Hillwig, Jr. of Butler, PA, and Larry (Diane) Hillwig of Cranberry Twp, PA; five grandchildren, Darren (Kim) Fecich, Jay (Megan) Hillwig, Joel Hillwig, Jordan Hillwig, and Rachel (Mike) Ockree; five great grandchildren, Noah Fecich, Lukas Fecich, Evan Fecich, Madelyn Ockree, and Asher Hillwig. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Hillwig, Sr. whom she married on May 10, 1947 and who passed away on February 7, 1999 and also by one sister. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 12:00 (noon) - 2:00 pm at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. Funeral services will follow immediately at 2:00 pm with Reverend David Janz, officiating. Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
