Bette M. McAnany, 92, of Butler, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 from the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born October 26, 1921 in Warren, Ohio to the late Hugh Smith and Jesselyn (Watkins) Smith.

She was highly regarded by the judges, attorneys, and peers for her indisputable professionalism. Bette was always an avid reader, reading three newspapers on weekends and the latest book releases. When macular degeneration stole her vision she adapted her craving for up to date news by turning on Channel 4.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) McAnany whom she married on October 18, 1946 and passed away on July 4, 1982, and two brothers, Stanley Hugh and Bill Archibald Smith.

At Bette's request there will be no visitation. A Private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank all Bette's caregivers who were so compassionate and lovingly cared for her, especially through her last few weeks. Special thanks to the staff of the Visiting Nurses Association and Home Instead.
