Marie Barlow McCandless

March 25, 1908 - November 14, 2004
 

Marie Barlow McCandless, age 96 of Outlook Pointe, Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at Outlook Pointe At Saxonburg.

Born in Murphysboro, Illinois on March 25, 1908 she was the daughter of the late Herman and Lula Imhoff.

Marie spent most of her life in Butler as the owner and operator of the Nixon Beauty shop, retiring at the age of 75. Mrs. McCandless was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Maqueda Chapter #421 Order of Eastern Star and the White Shrine Good Samaritan #32. She was a self taught Silver Life Master in bridge, teaching and winning many tournaments in her lifetime.

Mrs. McCandless was preceded in death by her first husband Edwin Barlow who passed away on April 15, 1970, a sister, two brothers, grand-daughter, Dana Marie Whitaker and step-children Kenny McCandless, Ellie McCandless Diel, and Michael Lukavich.

Mrs. McCandless is survived by her husband, Lamont McCandless, whom she married on November 19, 1983, daughter, Mrs. (Robert) Dixie Lou Barlow-Whitaker of Akron, Ohio; son, Jerald E. Barlow and his wife Lois of Meadville, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, also surviving are step-children; Barbara, Judy, Jacquelyn and Patricia Jo McCandless of California, Mary Buchner and Karen and David McCandless of Houston, Gretchen Amado of Pittsburgh and Lynn Lukavich of West Sunbury. Also survived by many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Samuel Blair, chaplain at Hospice of Greater Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
