Mitchell, 90 of North McKean Street, Butler, died Wednesday, August
18, 2004 at 4:45 p.m. in the Chicora Medical Center.
Born January 14, 1914 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of
George A. Mitchell and Rose Raisley.
Mr. Mitchell was the President of
Mitchell Insurance, Inc. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian
Church. Mr. Mitchell was active with the Butler Kiwanis Club, YMCA
board member, member of the State and National YMCA boards, formerly a
Butler Area School Board member, Butler County Planning Commission,
formerly a member of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, an elder
at Calvary Church and the Church of the Living Word, he was active
with the Civil Air Patrol and an active choir member most of his life.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by four sons, Loyal R. Mitchell of Butler,
Pennsylvania, John R. Mitchell of Schenectady, New York, William G.
Mitchell of Butler, Pennsylvania, Thomas J. Mitchell of Butler,
Pennsylvania, one daughter, Susan E. Mitchell of Orlando, Florida, ten
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, George Mitchell
of Los Angeles, California, and by his step-mother, Ursula N. Mitchell
of Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine T. Mitchell,
who passed away on July 4, 2004. Friends will be received at the
Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
PA, on Friday, August 20, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in
America, on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend
Michael L. Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in North Side
Cemetery.
