Paul M. Murphy, 90, of
Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 2,
2015 at 1:40 a.m. at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born January 23,
1925 in Portersville, Pennsylvania to the late John
Murphy and Mary (Hilliard) Murphy.
Paul started work in 1946
at Armco Steel and worked in the same department,
North Processing, for 41 years, retiring in 1987. He
was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where
he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class.
Mr. Murphy was an avid fan of all PIttsburgh sports
teams, but his biggest hobby was keeping updated
stats for the Butler High School basketball teams,
for which he rarely missed a game, home or away.
Paul is survived by his
wife, Amy Murphy, whom he married June 30, 1947; two
daughters, Betty Staley-Dickey and her husband Bill
and Nancy Daw, both of Butler, PA; one son, Don
Murphy and his wife Suzan of Sarver, PA; three
grandsons, Robert Staley, Jr., Robbie Daw and Brian
Paul Staley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Robert
Staley, Sr. and Robert Daw; one daughter-in-law,
Betty Murphy; one brother, Robert Murphy; and one
sister, Doris LeRoy.
Friends will be received
Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the
Thompson - Miller Funeral Home,
Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday,
February 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North
St. Butler, PA, with Pastor David Maitland, Pastor
Sam McNamara and Pastor Todd Wentworth of First
Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will take place in the
Greenlawn Burial Estates.
