Barbara June Perkins

Barbara June Perkins, 85, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 9, 2012 at 9:10 p.m. at the Kittanning Care Center.

She was born September 26, 1927 in Moon Run, Pennsylvania to the late Russell H. Curtis and Anna Barbara Leihgaber Curtis.

Mrs. Perkins was a Nurses Aide for 17 years at Sunnyview Nursing Home. Following her retirement, she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association as a Nurses Aide. She is associated with the Fenelton United Methodist Church and the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church. Mrs. Perkins enjoyed flower gardening, yard work, visiting with family, traveling and Sunday brunch at Eat 'N Park.

Mrs. Perkins is survived by four daughters, Diria (Dee) Swager and her husband Allan of Butler, PA, Barbara J. Barnhart and her husband Floyd of Fenelton, PA, Jo Donaldson and her husband Gerald of Butler, PA and Kimberly Hamilton and her husband Rickie of Shaler, PA; two sons, Dana Perkins and his wife Sally of West Sunbury, PA and Keith Perkins and his wife Rita of Kulpmont, PA; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence James Curtis of Chicora, PA; a foster brother, Ed Mahood and his wife Jeannie of Coco, FL; a special niece, Louella McElhaney; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Perkins, Jr., whom she married March 22, 1947 and who passed away March 12, 1984; one brother, Bill Curtis and one sister, Penny Harmer.

Friends will be received Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Pastor Matthew Perkins, grandson of the deceased and pastor of the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.

The family suggests Memorial Donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 1133 South Braddock Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218 or to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 N. McKean Street, Butler, PA 16001.
