Charles N. Porter

September 11, 1920 - August 10, 2005
 

Charles N. Porter, age 84 of Manor Drive, Valencia, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 8:25 p.m. in St. John's Specialty Care Center.

Born September 11, 1920 in Millerstown, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Charles N. Porter and the late Ida K. Phillips.

Mr. Porter was a superintendent for Mellon-Stuart Construction Co., retiring in January of 1986 after 34 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Glade Run Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Mars.

Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Viola Kummer who he married on December 15, 1952, by two sons, Keith C. Porter of Raleigh, North Carolina, James N. Porter of Raleigh, North Carolina; by one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Barbara Jo) Forsman of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania; one step-son, Robert E. Kaufmann of Butler, Pennsylvania; a sister, Frances L. Schmidt of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his first wife Edna E. Hamilton who passed away in March of 1948, and by two brothers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, August 12, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 13, 2005 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
