James S. Quinn

January 4, 1934 - August 18, 2005
 

James S. Quinn, age 71 of Bear Creek Road, Sarver, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 2:10 p.m. in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Born January 4, 1934 in Plymouth, Wisconsin he was the son of the late LeRoy Quinn and the late Irene Behrend.

Mr. Quinn was a retired elementary school principal for Buffalo Elementary School. He was a member of Community Alliance Church. Mr. Quinn had been the voice of F Y F Freeport Youth Football Mini Jackets Football League, Freeport School District Athletic Director, board member of the Freeport International Baseball Invitational and a board member of Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame. He was an Elder in his church and a member of the choir and drama team. Mr. Quinn was also a member of the Southernaires, a southern gospel quartet. He was an avid hunter and a member of PSEA and NEA Education Associations. Mr. Quinn was also a member of Pennsylvania State Athletic Association and the Who's who in American Education.

Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife, Eileen A. Quinn and whom he married on June 27, 1958, four daughters, Mrs. Carl (Gaylene) Massart of Sarver, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lynn (Juli) Ort of Lowell, Michigan, Mrs. Gary (Cheri) Rider of South Lyons, Michigan, Mrs. Jeffrey (Heather) Hair of Douglasville, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, and two nieces and two nephews.

Mr. Quinn was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, August 20, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, August 21, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Community Alliance Church on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dennis Krajacic officiating. Interment will follow in North Union Cemetery.
