William
Robert "Bill" Riding, 75 of Butler, died at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
November 18, 2003 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 14, 1928 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of
Edward Riding and Eva Christine Foster.
He retired in 1993 as a Fleet Mechanic for BMI Refineries in East
Butler. He attended the Butler Free Methodist Church. Mr. Riding was a
veteran of WW II serving as a sergeant in the U. S. Army. He served
during the occupation of Japan. He received the Victory Medal and the
Army of Occupation Medal of Japan. He was an avid fisherman and
enjoyed tinkering. He was a life member of the Teamsters Union.
Surviving are his wife, Ida Mae Elizabeth Reges Riding who he married
June 30, 1950, two daughters, Crystal Ann Riding of Butler,
Pennsylvania, Cynthia I. Riding of Florida Keys, one sister, Shirley
Skillman of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Riding is preceded in death by eight sisters and 8 brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc.,
124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, November 20,
2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc.,
Friday, November 21, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend David V.
Hastings officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial
Estates.
