Buddy Eugene Ruggles

Buddy Eugene Ruggles, 71, of Butler died at 5:10 a.m. Friday surrounded by his family after a long-term illness.

He was born Oct. 11, 1939, in Franklin, Pa., to Glenn L. and Lillian Ruggles. His stepmother was Garnet Murdock Ruggles.

He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Armco Steel for 33 years. He was a member of the Community Alliance Church. He married Mary Jane Ruggles (Kugler) on Dec. 11, 1961. He enjoyed skating, visiting family and friends, going to Bible studies, helping others and traveling.

He is survived by four children, Tracy A. Ruggles and his wife, Kelly, and their four children of Butler, Sherrie L. Ruggles Eyth and her husband, Joseph Eyth, and their four children of Woodway, Texas, Jerry "Charlie" Ruggles and his wife, Ellen, and their five children of Butler, and Jessie R. Ruggles Adams and her husband, Steve Adams, and one child and two grandchildren of Butler; and nine brothers and sisters, Fred L. Ruggles and his wife, Ann, of Fort Worth, Texas, Charles R. Ruggles and his wife, Wanda, of Mercer, James W. Ruggles and his wife, Gwen, of Erie, Jeanne Ruggles (Cornelius) of Harrisville, Joyce A. Ruggles (Craig) and her husband, Leslie, of New Castle, Kim M. Ruggles Updegraft and her husband, Steve, Lucy Moon and her husband, Thomas, of Waterford, Mary Huntley of Erie, and Al Murdock of Erie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother; one brother, Edward Ruggles; one sister, Dorothy Zeleski and her husband, Edward; and one brother-in-law, Jack Huntley.

Friends of Buddy Eugene Ruggles of Butler, who died Friday, June 10, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.


Additional viewing will be Tuesday from noon until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with pastor Denny Krajacic of the Community Alliance Church officiating.  Burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
