John H.
Schneidmiller, 82, of Cabot, Pennsylvania formerly of
Butler, passed away on August 9, 2011 at 12:50 a.m. in
the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, PA.
He was born
February 12, 1929 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late
John C. Schneidmiller and Nettie Marie (Hetzel)
Schneidmiller.
Reverend
Schneidmiller was an alumni of Capital University class
of 1950 and the Lutheran Seminary class of 1953 in
Philadelphia, PA. Following seminary he pastored his
first church, St. John's Lutheran Church in Natrona, PA
from 1953 to 1956. From 1957 to 1961 he served Christ
Lutheran Church in West Newton, PA. His last pastorate
was in Butler, PA at the First English Lutheran Church
where he served from 1961 to 1977. He had been a
supervising pastor at Rider Lutheran Church, West
Sunbury, PA until 2008. Following his retirement from
pastoring at First English Lutheran Church in Butler,
PA, he became the Regional Director for Missions Synod
of the LCA, from 1977 to 1985. In 1985 until 1994 he
served as Mission Director for the ELCA. During his
professional life in Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia
Synod, Reverend Schneidmiller served on various boards
and executive committees.
Reverend
Schneidmiller is survived by his loving wife of 60
years, Barbara whom he married June 25, 1951, four
daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Nancy) Laine of Perrysburg, OH,
Mrs. Gregory E. (Karen) Flinchbaugh of Edinboro, PA,
Mrs. Thomas (Gretchen) Gallagher of Saxonburg, PA and
Mrs. Jeffrey J. (Debra) Gallagher of Dubois, PA;
thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Mrs. Robert (Alma) Cunningham of East
Liverpool, OH and Mrs. Helen Hall of Columbus, OH; and a
number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to
his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark
Schneidmiller and Bob Schneidmiller; two sisters and one
brother.
Friends will be
received Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East
North Street, Butler, PA.
Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at
11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church,
310 Main Street, Saxonburg, PA, 16023 with, Pastor Roger
Keller, officiating.
Entombment will
take place in the Chapel of Devotion, Butler County
Memorial Park.

flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good
Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
