Cornelia Shannon, age 96 formerly of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, died
Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 3:10 p.m. in Concordia Lutheran
Ministries, Cabot, Pennsylvania.
Born August 16, 1909 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania she was the daughter
of the late Frank Stephen Wray and the late Bernice Hayden.
Mrs. Shannon was a retired school
teacher. She was minister's wife and a social worker for the
Department of Public Assistance. Mrs. Shannon was a member of First
Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her interests include
traveling, camping, genealogy. She had been active in the Pittsburgh
Historical Society, Women's Business Association and various church
groups. She is an alumni of Union High School class of 1928 and
Muskingum College class of 1933.
Mrs. Shannon is survived by three
daughters, Nancy C. Shannon of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Robert
(Bernice) Bell of Bellingham, Washington, Mrs. James (Barbara)
Swidzinski of Butler, Pennsylvania; one son, Allan Wray Shannon of
Maui, Hawaii; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shannon was preceded in death by
her husband, Reverend William Allan Shannon who passed away on August
22, 1980.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Thursday, August 25, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson -
Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.
with Reverend Stephen N. Cahoon, pastor at Meridian United
Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill
Cemetery, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
