Roger Alan Sherman

Roger Alan Sherman, 75, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 8, 2017 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born November 27, 1941 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Robert B. Sherman and the late June L. Bash Sherman.

Roger served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a Crane Man for Armco Steel, retiring after 25 years of service. He went on to be owner of Roger Sherman General Repair. Roger belonged to the Bantam Marine Corp League of Butler, Detachment Corp #743, American Legion Post #778 in Butler, and was an Eagle Boyscout. He enjoyed flying airplanes, going to Dog Races, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, whom he married on October 5, 1990; one daughter, Theresa Sherman of Butler, PA; three step-daughters, Melissa Palmer of Portersville, PA, Morgan Moran of VA, and Michael Kisner of NC; three grandchildren, Patrick, Randa, and Samantha; two brothers, Robert W. Sherman and his wife Joan of Slippery Rock, PA, and Gary Sherman and his wife Peggy of Butler, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, John Patrick Sherman.

Arrangements are being handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North St., Butler, PA 16001.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post #778, 150 Legion Memorial Lane, Lyndora, PA 16001.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Bantam Marine Detachment #743, 413 South Main St., Butler, PA 16001.
