Janet Lyon Sketchley,
age 80 of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Monday, October 3, 2005 in
a local care facility.
Born January 5, 1925
in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Samuel Lyon
and the late Nancy Murphy Lyon.
Mrs. Sketchley
retired from the University of Virginia after many years of
employment in the Alderman Library and the Athletic Department.
Mrs. Sketchley is
survived by one daughter, Anne Robertson and her husband Thomas of
Richmond, Virginia; a son, R. G. Sketchley and his wife Jane of
Falls Church, Virginia; three grandchildren, Anne-Taylor, Elizabeth,
and David; a sister, Helen Kearney of Atlanta, Georgia and many
beloved nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sketchley was
preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Mikesell and Dorothy Palm
and two brothers, James and John Lyon.
The family will
receive friends in Charlottesville from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday,
October 6, 2005 at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
Services will be
held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, October
10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in North Side
Cemetery.
