Regis I. Smith

November 16, 1907 - September 16, 2003
 

 Regis I. Smith, 95 of the YMCA Personal Care formerly of New Castle Street, Butler, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born November 16, 1907 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of George Smith and Magdalina Neff.

He retired in 1969 from the Finishing Department of Armco Steel-Butler Operations. Mr. Smith was catholic by faith. He was a faithful member of the Loyal order of the Moose #64 since 1937, where he had been named North Moose, Deputy Grand Moose and Moose Member of the year. He was a bartender at Baker's Inn in Butler during the 1930's. He had been President of the Butler County unit of the Pennsylvania Federation of Fraternal and Social Organizations since 1976. He also enjoyed collecting beer cans and had a collection of over 750 cans. He also built and collected model trains and cars.

Mr. Smith is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, George and Sarann Smith of Butler, Pennsylvania, two grand-daughters, Mrs. George (Kelly) Ferrari of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Tracy Bonetti of Atlanta, Georgia, two Great-Grandsons, Wade and Grant Ferrari, and a Number of Nieces and Nephews.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Olive Mae Young Smith, who passed away on January 13, 1998, along with three brothers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Friday, September 19, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Officer’s and members of Loyal Order of Moose #64 will meet at 6:45 p.m. Friday to conduct memorial services at the Funeral Home.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, September 20, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
