Alan "Al" Stephenson

Alan "Al" Stephenson, 45, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 22, 2011 at 6:27 a.m. at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 20, 1966 in Butler, Pennsylvania to Patricia (Grossman) Murdick and the late Calvin L. Stephenson, Jr.

Alan was a graduate of Butler High School and Butler VoTech. He also graduated from Butler County Community College with an Associates Degree. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer. He worked for Kewannee Scientific Corp. in North Carolina. He was the owner of Carolina Horizons in North Carolina. He last worked for Shrupp Industries in Parker, PA. Alan was a former Scoutmaster of Summit Township and a member of East Butler and Butler Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, woodworking, camping and he enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family.

Mr. Stephenson is survived by two sons, Jonathan Stephenson and his fiancée, Hannah, Christopher Stephenson and his wife Shannon; four grandchildren, Deyonte & Maleya Walker, Alayna Stephenson, and James Thornton; one sister, Deborah Krimm and her husband David; two nephews, Adam VanDorp, Justin VanDorp and his wife Sarah; one great-niece, Chloe VanDorp; numerous aunts & uncles; two black labs, Uno and Lady Bird; and one golden retriever, Amber.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin L. Stephenson, Jr.

Friends will be received Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old Route 422 West Butler, PA, with Reverend Jeff Curtis, officiating.

Burial will take place in the North Side Cemetery, Butler, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old Route 422 West, Butler, PA 16001.
