Alvin Lee Swain

Alvin Lee Swain, 59, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, at his residence.

He was born February 20, 1957, in East Liverpool, Ohio to Stella (Nusser) Milocik and the late Larry Lee Swain.

Alvin was a member of First United Methodist Church Crossfire Campus. He worked as an EMT, Radio Announcer and Truck Driver. Alvin was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps serving during the Vietnam War Era. He was a Past Commandant of the Bantam Marine Corps League Detachment #743, the American Legion Post #117 and the East Butler Firemen's Club. Alvin enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, the outdoors and especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife Nancy (Panei) Swain; two sons, Matthew Swain and his wife Rebecca of East Butler, PA, and Mark Swain and his partner Lorena of Butler, PA; five grandchildren, Nevaeh, Morgan, Nathan, Nicholas and Carter; his mother and step father Stella and George Milochik of Monaca, PA; one brother, William Hartley and his wife Tracy of Aliquippa, PA; three sisters, Donna Gulish and her husband John of Beaver Falls, PA, Brenda Adams and her husband Bob of Aliquippa, PA, and Ruth Ann Canfield of AZ; and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Tomasina Swain and by his stepfather, William Hartley.

Friends will be received at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Crossfire Campus, 1802 North Main Street Extension , Butler, PA 16001 with Pastor Robert Gilchrist of Crossfire and Pastor Larry T. Coltura of Medi Home Hospice officiating.

The Bantam Marine Corps League Detachment #743 will provide military honors at the church following the service.

Private burial will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to in care of the family in c/o Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
