John C. Tack, 93, of
Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 5,
2016 at 8:55 p.m. at the Sunnyview Nursing and
He was born April 10, 1922
in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late John Tack and
Margaret (Snyder) Tack.
He was a graduate of Butler
High School and attended Westminster College. John
was a member of First United Methodist Church. He
was a veteran of the United States Marines Corp
serving in the Pacific Theater in World War II. John
was a partner in the family owned Excavation and
Builder's Supply business and the sole owner of the
Tack Lumber Company in Butler. He was the developer
of the Garden Grove plan in Butler Township. John
retired from Mine Safety Appliances in March 1984
after 17 years of service. He spent many years in
the local youth baseball programs and worked with
Habitat for Humanity. John was a avid wood hobbyist,
enjoyed his family, extended family and traveling.
He was a past member of the Butler Lions Club and
the Butler Elks Lodge #170.
He is survived by his wife
Dorothy L. Tack whom he married on February 3, 1945;
one daughter, Barbara Bicker and her husband Russell
of Slippery Rock, PA; three sons, John G. Tack and
his wife Elaine of Middletown, OH, William B. Tack
and his wife Donna of Hilliards, PA, and Jeffrey M.
Tack of Kitty Hawk, NC; thirteen grandchildren;
thirty-one great grandchildren and a number of
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February
10, 2016 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist
Church, 200 East North Street, Butler, PA with
Pastor Tim Goodman of First United Methodist Church
Private burial will take place
in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
