Betty M. Whitmer

Betty M. Whitmer, age 75 of Main Street, Emlenton, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 5:10 a.m. in UPMC Northwest Franklin Hospital.

Born January 1, 1930 in Bruin, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. Wolff and the late Florence Durnell.

Mrs. Whitmer was a worker for IGA Grocery Store retiring in 1990 after 17 years of service. She was Lutheran by faith. Mrs. Whitmer was a member of Dehart Rossman Wenner American Legion Auxiliary for 42 years, she volunteered at Books Galore at Crawford Center in Emlenton, she was a member of Senior Centers of Parker, and a volunteer of Faith Action. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards, gardening and driving for senior citizens.

Mrs. Whitmer is survived by one son, Richard Whitmer of State College, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Loretta Whitmer of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Victoria Whitmer of Emlenton, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, one sister, Nina Lee Manuel of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Whitmer was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Whitmer who passed away in August of 1978 and by a brother.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
