William G. (Bill) Whittingstall,
79, of Butler passed away Friday, July 15.
Born July 19, 1931, in East Liberty, PA. he was the son
of the late Charles A. and Violet Nellie Foulkes
Whittingstall.
He retired from the U.S. Post Office Pittsburgh branch
in 1990 after 37 years. Joined National Guard at age 15
(1947-1950) Korean war veteran (1950-1953), 11th
Airborne, 187 Rakkasans Regimental Combat Team, 511th
P.I.R. Member of the VFW, Lifetime member 11th Allied
Airborne Division Association and member of Veterans of
Underage Military Service. He enjoyed hunting,
taxidermy, small engine repair and spending time with
his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 49
years, Doris M. (Wood) Whittingstall; loving daughter
Debi J. (Gary) Schmiedecke; sister Helen Gerheim; the
entire extended and adopted families including (sons)
Gary, Rick and Billy, (granddaughter) Lena; dear friend
Mike Welch and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
one brother, two sisters, and Aries, his faithful and
loving hunting companion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to
the American Lung Association of Pennsylvania.
The Family will hold a private memorial service at a
later date. Arrangements are being handled by the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street,
Butler, PA 16001.
