Alta V. Russell Yingling

May 31, 1909 - August 14, 2003
 

Alta V. Russell Yingling, 94, formerly of Butler, died at 1:20 a.m. Thursday at Chicora Medical Center.

Born in Pittsburgh, May 31, 1909, she was the daughter of Grover William and Sarah Estella Brown Bailey.

A graduate of Butler High School, she had been a telephone operator at Peoples, United and Sprint telephone companies. She retired in 1974 and was a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association.

She also belonged to the Church of the Living Word and the Order of the Amaranth.

Surviving are a son, James Russell of Canton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews.

Her first husband. Norman David Russell, died June 14, 1973; and her second husband, Dr. Karl Yingling, died Dec. 10, 1992. Two daughters, a son, two sisters and a brother also preceded her in death.

YINGLING - Friends of Alta Russell Yingling, who died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Glassman, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
