Mary Grace Taggart

January 6, 1915 - April 21, 2008

Mary Grace Coccaro Taggart, age 93, of Barboursville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, April 21, 2008. 

Born January 6, 1915, in Rockwood, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Coccaro and America Coccaro. 

For the majority of her life, Mrs. Taggart lived in Butler, Pennsylvania, where she and her husband opened their home to boys, teaching them fitness and boxing skills. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and was well known for her homemade bread, pizza, sauces, pies and cookies. She also loved knitting, crocheting, opera and most recently found endless joy in her great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Great. 

Mrs. Taggart is survived by her daughter and husband, Carolyn and William Riesmeyer of Barboursville, Virginia; her granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Erik Elvgren of Barboursville, Virginia; three great-grandchildren William Elvgren, Elizabeth Elvgren and Sophia Elvgren all of Barboursville, Virginia; one sister Alice Coccaro Weisenstein of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, two nieces and a nephew. 

Mrs. Taggart was preceded in death by her husband Charles Robert Taggart, whom she married on June 19, 1933; a son Charles Robert Taggart, Jr.; and three brothers, Joseph Coccaro, Jr., John Coccaro and Albert Coccaro. 

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be held Friday, April 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home.
