Luther D. Alkire, age 90 of Middle
Trail, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 8:50
p.m. at his residence. Born
August 4, 1917 in Peninsula, Ohio, he was the son of the late Darius
L. and Eva Susan Keith Alkire.
Mr. Alkire was a steamfitter for
National Valve and Manufacturing Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was a member of the North Main
Street Church of God and the Sixty Plus or Minus group at the
church. He enjoyed his church, his family and gardening.
Mr. Alkire is survived by his wife,
Fanny E. Van Buren Alkire, whom he married on September 27, 1940,
and by two sons, Lawrence D. Alkire of Batesville, Arkansas, and
Darel N. Alkire of Little Rock, Arkansas; two daughters, Mrs.
Charles (Norma) Mustake of Lisbon, Ohio, and Mrs. Ronald (Debra)
Paynter of Butler, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren, 28 great
grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Alkire was preceded in death by
two daughters, Sharon and Donna and by one sister.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and
at the North Main Street Church of God on Friday, July 25 from 12:30
to 2:00 p.m..
Services will be held at the North
Main Street Church Of God on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with
Reverend David Brown and Reverend Kenneth C. Hall, pastors of his
church, officiating.
There will also be a visitation at
the Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, West Virginia on Saturday, July
26, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m.. Interment will follow in Sugar Creek
Cemetery, Gassaway, West Virginia. |
