Vance Wesley Burtner, age 83 of Rockdale
Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 2:45
a.m. at his residence. Born
June 24, 1924 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late
Forest H. Burtner and the late Lena Giles Burtner.
Mr. Burtner was a self-employed
farmer. He was a member of Thorn Creek United Methodist church, a
Sunday school teacher, Country Bell Director, Agway Directors,
Jefferson Township Supervisor for 12 years and a Full Gospel
Businessmen. Mr. Burtner enjoyed Church fellowship, farming,
gardening and flowers, growing giant pumpkins, writing poetry and
reading.
Mr. Burtner is survived by his wife
of 60 years, Esther E. Hogg Burtner, whom he married on January 2,
1948, by four sons and their wives, David V. Burtner and Durfee,
Darell E. Burtner and Paula, Duane W. Burtner and Mary, Darwin M.
Burtner and Kathy; eleven grandchildren, Brett Burtner and his wife
Michelle, Noah Burtner, Levi Burtner, Ellie Burtner, Ashley Burtner,
Alicia Burtner, Ben Burtner and his wife Tracy, Seth Burtner and his
wife Lindsey, Travis Burtner, Todd Burtner and Tiffany Burtner;
eight brothers, Arthur Burtner of Butler, Pennsylvania, Giles
Burtner of Webster, New York, Keith Burtner of Butler, Pennsylvania,
Roger Burtner of Brady, Texas, Vernon Burtner of Marionville, Mo,
Wendall Burtner of Rochester, New York, Russell Burtner of
Washington, North Carolina, Harry Burtner of Butler, Pennsylvania;
four sisters, Joyce Trumbauer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jessie Skinner
of Warren, Indiana, Mary Francis Boggs of Cabot, Pennsylvania,
Marilyn Glasgow of Butler, Pennsylvania; and by numerous nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Burtner was preceded in death by
two brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on
Friday, March 21, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thorn
Creek United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00
a.m. with Pastor Kurt Knobel and Pastor Rich Fagen of Thorn Creek
United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn
Burial Estates.
