Betty Jane Cadwallader

February 15, 1935 - July 17, 2008

Betty Jane Shields Cadwallader, age 73 of Butler, passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Butler, Pennsylvania, on February 15, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Clayton Otis Shields and Lena Gertrude Snyder Shields.

Mrs. Cadwallader was a homemaker, but was also employed in the past by Montgomery Wards, Jewelry department and by Darlyn Casuals Clothing Store. She loved spending the summer months at her camp. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting dolls and caring for her beloved dog "Lady".

Mrs. Cadwallader was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church in Butler.

Mrs. Cadwallader is survived by her husband of 56 years, Corwyn Keith Cadwallader, of Butler; by four daughters, Sandra L. Doerr and her husband Donald D. Doerr, Jr., Esquire of Bay Minette, Alabama; Sharon K. Abel and her husband Charles H. Abel, Jr.; Susan E. Cadwallader both of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Sally A. John and her husband David G. John of Glen Burnie, Maryland; by nine grandchildren, Stacey (James) Bowen, Bryan (Lea) Slaughenhoupt, Timothy (Jamie) Doerr, Clayton Abel, Benjamin Abel, Catherine Abel, Stephen Koch, Amy Kredel, and Melissa Koch; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Benko, Michael Bowen, Sophia and Emma Slaughenhoupt, Timothy Doerr, Jr., Aaron Jacob Abel, and Alexander Joseph Kredel.

Mrs. Cadwallader was the sister of John Shields of East Butler, Mrs. Dorothy Gallaher of Butler, Mrs. Walter (Mary) Sarvey of Prospect, Mrs. Earl (Gert) Sarvey of Meridian, and Mrs. Claude ("Joey") Filges of Butler. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Mrs. Cadwallader was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Michael P. Campbell, pastor of the Weirton Heights Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1027 Evans City Road, Renfrew, Pennsylvania 16053.
