Virginia Lee Glass

June 21, 1930 - July 21, 2008

Virginia Lee Glass, age 78, of Hilltop Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at 12:31 a.m. at her residence.

Born June 21, 1930 in Junction City, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Albert and Gladys Spittles Gfeller.

Mrs. Glass was a schoolteacher for Center Township School and she was a nurse for the Children's Rehabilitation Center in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania. She was a volunteer for the Butler County Humane Society. She enjoyed tennis and gardening. She loved animals and had a very special affection for cats in need. She lived life to the fullest and she always made her family first and foremost in her life.

Mrs. Glass is survived by two daughters, Anita Nicholas Alexander and Patricia Nicholas Diehl; four grandchildren, Perry Alexander, Nicholas Alexander; Lisa Diehl McMaster, and Christine Diehl Creely; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Gfeller; one sister, Marge Boyer; and by one niece, Valle Jean Double and several other nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, John Morris Nicholas who was deceased on August 18, 1969 and her second husband, Howard M. Glass, who was deceased December 14, 1999, preceded Mrs. Glass in death.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend David Brown, pastor of North Main Street Church Of God, officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1027 Evans City Road, Renfrew, Pennsylvania 16053 or to American Cancer Society, Memorials, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15205.
