Paul E. Hutchison, 79, of Lakeview
Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday March 20, 2008 at 11:58
a.m. at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He had a keen sense of humor and a treasure chest of jokes for every
occasion.
Born July 4, 1928 in Butler,
Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John V. Hutchison and the
late Nina B. Kepple Hutchison.
Mr. Hutchison was a physics/science
teacher for the Butler High School for 30 years, retiring in1989. He
graduated from Butler High School in 1946. He enrolled in the
pre-med program at the University of Pittsburgh where he joined the
ROTC, and was later called into service. Mr. Hutchison became a U.S.
Marine and served in Korea from 1948-1952. When he returned, he
attended Clarion State College (now University). He played football
and when asked what position he played, he said, "desperate end." He
graduated in 1959 and a year later married the love of his life,
Patricia J. McCandless.
He was a member of the Trinity
Lutheran Church.
He was an active member in the Bantam
Marine Corp League Detachment #749 and the Toys for Tots Program.
Mr. Hutchison also volunteered many hours at the Butler VA Hospital
helping with social activities and crafts. He enjoyed woodworking
and bowling, but his first passion was golf.
Mr. Hutchison is survived by his
sister, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Racek and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hutchison was preceded in death
by his beloved wife, Patricia J. McCandless Hutchison, who passed
away on February 28, 2005 and also by three brothers, John V.,
Warren D., and Robert C. Hutchison.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Monday, March 24, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at the
Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
with Pastor Thomas M. Pierotti officiating. Interment will follow in
Greenlawn Burial Estates.
