Eleanor J. Markham, age 87 of Sunnyview
Home, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Mercer Street, died
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 8:30 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born November 21, 1920 in Weirton, West
Virginia she was the daughter of the late Homer Redd and the late
Nellie Glass.
Mrs. Markham was the first executive
director of the Butler County Society for Crippled Children and
Adults for 19 years. She was also the Administrator of the
Children's Rehabilitation Center and for 21 years the Executive
Director for the Mid-Western Pennsylvania Heart Association for
Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties. Mrs.
Markham retired in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist
Church, a former member of the Quota Club, and a member of the
Butler County Health and Welfare Organizations. She also enjoyed
making crafts.
Mrs. Markham is survived by her two
sons, Ronald Markham, Jr. and Donald Markham both of Butler,
Pennsylvania; and a daughter, a number of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, one brother, Homer L. Redd of Ligonier,
Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Mary Brown of and Mrs. Otto
(Lois Elma) Blymiller both of Butler, Pennsylvania and also by seven
nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Markham was preceded in death by
her husband, Ronald M. Markham who passed away on June 13, 1999.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Friday, June 27, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson
- Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.
with Reverend J. David Panther of First United Methodist Church
officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Devotion, Butler
County Memorial Park.
