Elizabeth "Betty" McCandless

July 24, 1922 - June 24, 2008

 
Elizabeth "Betty" McCandless, age 85 of Villa Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 5:30 a.m. at her residence.

Born July 24, 1922 in Ottawa, Illinois she was the daughter of the late Michael Protch and the late Anna Pollack.

Mrs. McCandless was rivet heater during the war at Pullman Standard. She retired from the dietary department at Butler Memorial Hospital. She was a former member of St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Womens Auxillary for the Moose Lodge, and a former volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. McCandless is survived by her two sons, Robert P. (Lisa) McCandless and William M. (Marty) McCandless both of Butler, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Kenneth, Bethann, Rachel, Sara and Jacob, two great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Kristen and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McCandless was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. "Bus" McCandless who passed away in May of 1977 and also by one sister and two brothers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
