Jack Ziman

August 15, 1919 - May 28, 2008

 
Jack Ziman, 88, formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 28 , 2008, in Baltimore, Maryland, where he resided in recent years near family.

Born in Butler August 15, 1919, Jack was a son of the late Louis and Sarah Ziman of Butler. After graduating Butler High School, he served in France and England in World War II. With his late wife Rita Green Ziman, he owned and operated Sam Green Tavern in Butler for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of the B'nai Abraham Congregation of Butler, where he was a regular volunteer. He particularly enjoyed Sunday family outings, bowling, and volunteering at the Veterans Hospital.

Surviving are his sons Sheldon of Maryland, Barry of Virginia, Sam of Texas, and Harvey Benjamin of Maryland; a brother Bob Ziman of Illinois; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends of Jack Ziman will be received Friday May 30 at 10:00 A.M. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, followed immediately by graveside services at the congregation B'Nai Abraham Cemetery with Hazzan (cantor) Adriene Caplowe officiating.
