Melvin (Mel) A. Crotzer,
age 93, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 3:30
p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born February 15, 1917 in Punxsutawney,
Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Floyd Lincoln Crotzer and
Lottie Heitzenrater Crotzer.
Mr. Crotzer graduated from
Punxsutawney High School in 1935.. He worked in the tractor repair
department at Butler Armco Steel retiring in 1979 after 43 years. He
was a member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Crotzer enjoyed
hunting, watching and listening to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a
member of the Valencia United Methodist Church in Valencia,
Pennsylvania.
Mr. Crotzer is survived by one son,
Richard and his wife Ruth Crotzer of Butler, Pennsylvania, three
daughters, Judith and her husband Stephen Pavlosky of Lenox,
Massachusetts, Frances and her husband David Michael of Butler,
Pennsylvania and Barbara Rikal of Butler, Pennsylvania, ten
grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great
grandson.
Mr. Crotzer was preceded in death by
his wife, Sara Jane (Fetterman) Crotzer who passed away April 5,
1996. Also proceeded in death by one brother and one sister.
Friends will be received at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the
Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.
with Pastor Bob Martin of Valencia United Methodist Church
officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
