Rose K. Hall , age 81 of
Butler, Pennsylvania, beloved mother, wife and friend passed away
10:00 p.m. on July 7, 2010 in the U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital
after a brief illness.Born
August 16, 1928 in Bellevue, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of
the late Benjamin Kurtz and Gertrude Emsminger Kutz.
After graduating from Bellevue High
School in 1946, she went to business school and then worked in New
Castle, Pennsylvania where she met the love of her life, Dr. C.
Kenneth Hall, who she married on June 23, 1956. While her children
were small, she worked as a part-time teacher's aide at Center
Avenue Elementary School and Clarence C. Brown Special School. As
her children grew older, she took a full-time job at Domestic
Relations of Butler County, where she worked for 17 years, retiring
in 1993. When restlessness overtook her, she worked as a part-time
receptionist for the office of Attorney Gwilym A. Price for several
years before finally retiring for good. Despite having severe
rheumatoid arthritis, she never lost her sense of humor. In her
later years, she kept busy with various volunteer work. She was a
member of the Family Selection Committee of Habitat for Humanity's
Butler Chapter, a tutor for BC3's Adult Literacy Program; a 40-year
member of the Meadowood Bridge Club; a volunteer morning caller for
Concordia Telecargivers and an active member of the Hill United
Presbyterian Church and the Joann Griffith Circle.
Mrs. Hall is survived by one
daughter, Carole S. Hall of Butler, Pennsylvania, one son, Roger A.
Hall of Chicora, Pennsylvania, one sister Elinor Phillippi of San
Antonio, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by
her husband, Dr. C. Kenneth Hall who passed away on October 15, 2004
and also by one sister, Margy Campbell .
The family will receive friends at
the Thompson-Miller, Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler,
Pennsylvania 16001 on Monday, July 12, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at the
Hill United Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 11:00
a.m. with Reverend Clark Sawyer of Hill United Presbyterian Church
officiating.
