Ray J. Kennedy, age 91, of Franklin, Pennsylvania, formerly of Butler, and Portersville, Pennsylvania, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 4:45 p.m. in The Caring Place in Franklin, Pennsylvania

Born June 17, 1918 in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John H. Kennedy and Hazel E. Rugh Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy had been a Plumber and Steam Fitter, belonging to Plumber and Steam Fitters Union, Local # 47 of Beaver, Pennsylvania; he retired in 1983. Mr. Kennedy served with the U.S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and in the Caribbean area. He was a life member of VFW Post #249 of Butler, a life member of the Butler Moose Lodge #64, a life member of the Butler Elks #170, and a former member of the National Rifle Association..

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his brother, Edward J.and his wife Joy Kennedy of Santa Ysabel, California and several nieces and nephews. Also a Brother Inlaw,Clyde McCaslin of Butler, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his wife, Irene P. Foraker Kennedy, whom he married on November 4, 1950 and passed away on October 12, 2007, Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Linda L. Deeter, Chaplin at The Caring Place in Franklin, Pennsylvania officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
